In Hinduism, dance is the most exalted of the arts, the pinnacle of many form of worship and devotion. The classical dance as well as the folk dance was performed in a mood of ecstasy and in praise and appreciation of the divine. Not only is dance allowed to hindus, as are many other wonderful things, dance is also admired and promoted, as is music and singing.
Indeed music and song is very much an essence, if not the essence of Hinduism. The path of Bhakti ( devotion in music, poetry and song ) is a path well followed in this day and age by almost a billion people, one fifth of humanity.
For the hindus it has been a part of our scriptures and works flowing and following from them as well as the rituals and practice which put dance at the very heart and forefront of our spirituality, culture and philosophy
Where ever a dancer stands is holy ground

Still dancing …and dancing …and dancing,
… until there is only the dance. ”
-Michael Jackson
You must understand the whole of life, not just one little part of it. That is why you must read, that is why you must look at the skies, that is why you must sing and dance, and write poems, and suffer, and understand, for all that is life
